Yesterday, precious metals jumped... Gold above 700$, Silver above 14.50$. Volatily is so high you can taste it. Stay tuned for tomorrow's Fed meeting.
Dan Denning: The Bull Hunter: Tracking Today's Hottest Investments
(***)
Addison Wiggin: The Demise of the Dollar... and Why It's Great For Your Investments
A parallel book to Empire of Debt, centered more specifically on the negative effects on the US dollar. Concise and to the point, a good read. (****)
Lynn Abbey: Sanctuary: An Epic Novel of Thieves' World (Thieves World)
My "entertainment" read at this time. A follow-up from a great book series I read (a few times) in college. (*****)
William Bonner: Empire of Debt : The Rise Of An Epic Financial Crisis
This is somewhat an updated version of Financial Reckoning Day. It has some interesting historical anecdotes on empires and their downfalls and how history is repeating itself with the American Empire. (****)
Kevin P. Phillips: American Dynasty: Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush
This book gives an interesting insight into the evolution of the politics and conspiracies of the Bush family since the turn of the century. This book goes much, much deeper than Michael Moore's entertaining but somewhat silly Farenheit 911. (****)
Thomas J. Fleming: The Illusion of Victory: America in World War I
Interesting book about the motivations of the US into entering World War I, and its lasting consequences. Witnessing the beginning of the American Empire and its causes. (****)
William Bonner: Financial Reckoning Day: Surviving the Soft Depression of the 21st Century
I haven't been able to read many serious books lately, but I read this one in 2004 and it came as a revelation that I was not the only one on this planet with crazy and gloomy thoughts about our future. (****)
